EWU Digital Library
East West University organized the launching ceremony of EWU Digital Library on 27 July at the university auditorium. Syed Manzur Elahi, founder member, Board of Trustees, East West University, Chairman, Apex Group, and former Adviser to Caretaker Government of Bangladesh was present as the chief guest in this ceremony while Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, President, Board of Trustees of East West University, presided over the session.
EWU Library is the first university library in Bangladesh that uses Greenstone Digital Library Software for building a digital library with a contribution to implement Bengali version of this software. To maintain a world class standard, East West University (EWU) Library has chosen this software to build a digital library for this institution. Greenstone Digital Library Software was successfully installed and implemented to serve the huge demand of digital information of the users as well as the intellectual community of the country.
In his speech, Syed Manzur Elahi told that we live in the age of communication and media, mostly based on the internet. It is a great contribution of 20 and 21st century that such an invention has a great role to raise awareness on health matters like HIV AIDS, fever, headache and so on. He said that the digitalization of East West University library and organizing the workshop on health literacy mark our scientific attitude to adopt new technologies for the well being of our population.
Thanking the participants and trainers in this workshop, Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, also put emphasis on empowering the people by creating a “Digital Bangladesh”. He says, “We are trying to achieve the standards of Millennium Development Goals on our population.” “We have to work more for that.” He also pointed out that this kind of workshop will create a platform for sharing knowledge on these relevant matters.EWU Digital Library
